BUCHAREST: Bulgaria’s government has resigned from office after countrywide protests against high electricity prices and austerity, Prime Minister Boiko Borisov announced on Wednesday.

“I will not participate in a government under which police are beating people,” Borisov told parliament.” ”We have dignity and honour. It is the people who put us in power and we give it back to them today,” he added.
