VOLOGDA: A bus carrying 25 children from a St. Petersburg orphanage collided with a heavyweight ‘Kamaz’ truck on Thursday morning that left six people killed while 18 others wounded, local traffic police said.
The incident occurred in Russia’s central Vologda region.
“At the moment, 6 are [confirmed] dead and 18 are injured. In the bus, which belonged to St. Petersburg’s orphanage No. 8, there were 25 children and 6 adults,” the Vologda regional government said in a statement.
The bus was traveling from St. Petersburg to Vologda when the accident occurred 10 km from the town of Cherepovetz, part of the Vologda region. Six emergency crews have been dispatched to the scene of the accident.
