Islamabad, Pakistan: Polish-born Member of Canadian Parliament Tomasz Kmiec who recently criticized the visit of the Chief of the Pakistan Army to Canada has a long history of supporting separatist movements in China, Turkey, and Pakistan.
He is actively supportive of separatist movements in Pakistan including Balochis and Sindhis. Recently, he questioned the allocation of the $50,000 for the reception of Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa and accused Pakistan Army of alleged human rights violations. His statement is being used by PTI followers and vloggers to defame Pakistan Army and demand the resignation of COAS.
On January 29, 2018, in the House of Commons, he submitted a statement for the attention of the House about the alleged human rights abuses perpetrated against minority groups in Pakistan. He mentioned in his statement allegations leveled by Baloch Human Rights Organization for extrajudicially execution in Pakistan. In the same statement, he raised the issue that the Christian community as well as MQM (London). In his statement, he asked the House to join him in condemning these violations of human rights in Pakistan and recognize Canada’s duty to work toward the elimination of sectarian and ethnic violence. He had been also active in the Sindudesh movement for a long.
On June 17, 2022, Tom Kmiec became the first member of the Canadian Parliament to express his support for The Long Walk Canada which is also known as the “Ottawa-Freedom Walk for Sindh’s human rights”. Holding the protest rally in front of the Pakistani high commission and delivering a letter to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, the Freedom Walk for Sindh began in Toronto and culminated in the Capital Ottawa covering 424 miles from May 28th to June 15th. The March has been the initiative of the Washington-based ‘Sindhi Foundation’ that campaigns for the human rights of the people from Sindh province of present Pakistan.
MP Tom Kmiec is a Polish-Canadian politician who serves as a Member of Parliament for Calgary Shepard in the House of Commons of Canada.
It may be mentioned that Baloch separatist groups while living in Canada have been criticizing Pakistan through their statements. A number of BLA members fled from Pakistan for North America and European countries when Pakistan Army launched a campaign against separatists after the arrest of Indian spy Kulbhushan Jadhav who in his video confession confirmed that Indian spy agency RAW has been active in Baluchistan to separate it from Pakistan. On one of the National day of Indian, Indian Prime Minister Modi also announced his support for Balochi separatists.
