ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Central Development Working Party (CDWP) chaired by Minister for Planning, Development and Reform Ahsan Iqbal in Islamabad on Friday approved Rs 8 billion Prime Minister’s National Health Insurance Program to improve the health status of the population in the country.

The program would ensure access to quality health care especially enhancing coverage and access to secondary and priority treatment of the poor and vulnerable population.

Under the program, over 4.6 million families would be provided health insurance in 34 districts of the country.

The meeting held here also approved a project for the construction of Pakistan Survey Complex at a cost of Rs 284 million in Lahore.

It also approved a project of the construction of building of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly.

The project includes Assembly Hall, Administration building, hostel and car parking.

Another project for the construction of 18-kilometer highway from Lahore Ring Road to Kalashah Kaku, besides construction of a bridge on Ravi river is also included.

The CDWP also send a project of Rs 22 billion submitted by Punjab government for enhancing immunity against different diseases among the children for the approval of Executive Committee of National Economic Council (ECNEC).

Under the program, the children would be administrated vaccine to protect them against nine diseases.

The meeting also discussed proposed working papers regarding communication, energy, information technology, physical planning and housing.
