ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Cellular subscribers across the Country have hailed tax relief for customers for 15 days ahead of Eid in the wake of the Supreme Court’s decision regarding suspension of taxes on mobile phone cards.
Officials said that cell phone service providers and the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) will not charge any tax or charges on mobile phone top-up cards for a period of 15 days.
Consumers can get complete Rs 100 credit on charging Rs 100 pre-paid mobile card and easy load after tax deduction, he added.
The development comes two days after the Supreme Court restrained FBR and cellular companies from deducting withholding tax and other charges on prepaid cards till further orders.
“This is a very good decision as more than 140 million cellular phone subscribers were concerned about taxes being deducted while recharging the cards of mobile phone operators, a cellular subscriber Raziq Ali said.
Raziq Ali said that majority of amount was used to deduct when a subscriber recharges the card or gets easy load to make phone calls, send Short Messaging Service (SMS) or use mobile Internet.
A student Asma Azeem said that the reduction of Rupees 40 on Recharge of Card of 100 rupees pre-paid mobile card was so unfair and it was not the way to collect money.
A shopkeeper Adil Ahsan said that the people used to show displeasure over the deduction when they get easy load from my shop. It is great that now people will get more balance in the same price, he added.
It is good that tax relief has been given to a common man of the Country, many other subscribers said.
