KARACHI: Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee meeting is under way in Karachi to sight Ramadan moon and decide about start of fasts in the country.
Zonal Ruet-e-Hilal Committees’ meetings are also being held at their respective headquarters for sighting the Ramadan moon.
Mufti Munibur Rehman is chairing meeting of Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee at Meterelogical Office in Karachi.
On the other hand, a non-official Ruet-e-Hilal Committee’s meeting is also being held in Peshawar’s Masjid Qasim Ali Khan under Mufti Popalzai simultaneously.
During last few years, Mufti Popalzai has made it a routine of announcing his decision on moon sighting, contrary to Mufti Munib’s official body, leading to the celebration of two separate Eids in Pakistan.
Earlier on Monday, the moon was not spotted in Saudi Arabia, so it was announced by the Saudi regime that the Holy month of Ramadan would begin from July 10 there and other Gulf States in the region.
