LONDON: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has said that the incumbent Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government has introduced several changes to Pakistan’s foreign policy which have produced positive results.
Talking to media persons in London on Tuesday on way to the United States to attend the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) session, he said that Pakistan does not want any kind of disturbance in the region, and it will continue to play its due role for peace in the region.
“Pakistan is a responsible country and is playing its role in the region correctly,” he said.
The prime minister said that they are pursuing the agenda for Pakistan’s prosperity.
Nawaz Sharif said that Pakistan will continue its efforts with Afghanistan for restoration of peace in the region. He said that both the countries are committed to jointly fight the menace of terrorism.
Earlier in the day, the Pakistani premier accompanied by a 35-member delegation left for New York to attend the 70th session of the UN General Assembly. He will address the 193-member world body on September 30.
On the sidelines of the UNGA session, the prime minister will also attend other events including global leaders meeting on gender equality and women empowerment, the plenary meeting of the general assembly for adoption of the post-2015 development agenda and a peace summit.
