PESHAWAR: At least seven persons including six police men were killed while nine others including two policemen sustained injuries in a bomb blast near a police mobile van at Sardheri bazaar in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Charsadda district on Wednesday morning.
The policemen were on their way for security duty with a team of anti-polio volunteers. The injured were shifted to DHQ hospital Charsadda and Lady Reading Hospital Peshawar.
The Deputy Inspector General of Police Mardan Range Saeed Wazir said that the bomb, weighing four to five kilograms, was planted on a cycle, adding that the IED was remotely detonated.
Meanwhile, President Mamnoon Hussain strongly condemned Charsadda blast and directed the authorities concerned to provide best possible medical treatment to the injured.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervez Khattak announced compensation of Rs 30 lac for the heirs of each martyred police personnel and Rs 1 one lac for each injured police jawan. Likewise, Rs 5 lac will be paid to the heirs of martyred student and Rs 2 two lac each to the injured civilians.
