ISLAMABAD: Chief Election Commissioner (CE) Fakruddin G Ebrahim on Thursday rejected all allegations levelled against the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), saying demands for restructuring of the ECP were unconstitutional, Dispatch News Desk (DND) reported.

The ECP chief said that some political parties, which want to gain political mileage ahead of the general elections, are hurling baseless allegations against the ECP.

“We don’t have any political affiliations,” Ebrahim asserted, adding reputation of ECP is being damaged for political purposes. “Appointment of every ECP member including myself is according to the constitution,” he said.

Earlier in the day, Chief of Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) Dr. Tahirul Qadri filed a petition in Supreme Court (SC), seeking restructuring of ECP.
