ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Chinese State Councilor and the Foreign Minister Wang Yi arrived in Islamabad on Friday night for a three-day official visit to Pakistan from September 7-9, 2018 at the invitation of his Pakistani Counterpart Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi.
The Chinese State Councilor was accompanied by a high-level delegation including three ministers.
During his visit, the State Councilor will hold delegation level talks with the Pakistani foreign minister. He will also call on President-elect Dr Arif Alvi, Prime Minister Imran Khan, the Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaiser, and the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa.
This is the first official visit by a Chinese dignitary since the new government was formed in Pakistan.
In a Press Briefing in Beijing on Thursday, the Chinese Foreign Office Spokesperson Hua Chunying said that during the Wang Yi’s visit, two sides will exchange views on bilateral relations and the international and regional issues of mutual interest.
“We hope that our two countries, through this visit, can renew our traditional friendship, promote mutually beneficial cooperation in various areas and elevate the China-Pakistan all-weather strategic cooperative partnership to a new high,” the Spokesperson said.
