ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Chinese President Xi Jinping has said that China will enhance Pakistan’s capability in fighting terrorism and meet non-traditional threats, adding that both the countries share common threats and they should stick together to confront them.
In his address at the joint session of the Parliament in Islamabad on Tuesday, Xi Jinping said that both Pakistan and China should maintain strategic communication on regional and international issues.
President Xi said that China believes in common development and it will take along Pakistan in this path of development. He said that the Pakistan-China economic corridor project will bring prosperity in all parts of Pakistan and the region.
The Chinese president said that strong relations with Pakistan will remain top priority of our diplomatic agenda.
“Regardless of changes at the international level, we will continue to see Pakistan in strategic and long term perspective,” he said.
The Chinese president said that China is a peace loving country and it wants to promote relations with all the South Asian countries.
“We will open in all respects in order to build an open economy,” President Xi said.
Xi Jinping also expressed the confidence that Pakistan will be successful in overcoming all challenges it is facing with the cooperation of China.
“Chinese people will always standby with the people of Pakistan in the endeavour for achieving the goal of socio economic development and prosperity,” he said.
The Chinese president also announced that his country firmly supports Pakistan for upholding its territorial integrity, sovereignty and national dignity.
“Pakistan is a great country which has great civilizations and we are good friends, brothers, and partners who have developed all weather strategic partnership,” President Xi said.
President Xi said that the Chinese people have great respect for the people of Pakistan and have very good wishes for the development and progress of Pakistan.
Xi Jinping said that he choose Pakistan as first country to visit during the current year which reflects out deep rooted love and affection besides our desire to give new impetus to our relations with it.
“Our friendship is great asset for the future generations as both the countries are knotted in the deep bonds of culture and civilizations,” he said.
President Xi Jinping awarded ‘Nishan-e-Pakistan’
Later, at a special ceremony at Aiwan-e-Sadr in Islamabad, President Mamnoon Hussain conferred top civil award ‘Nishan-e-Pakistan’ upon the visiting Chinese President Xi Jinping.
The ceremony was attended by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Federal Ministers, Members of National Assembly and Senate, Services Chiefs and Chinese delegation.
