ISLAMABAD: The Chief Justice of Pakistan Tassaduq Hussain Jillani on Friday took notice of the brutal murder of a pregnant woman outside the Lahore High Court (LHC), and sought a report from the Inspector General Police (IGP) Punjab within 48 hours.
A 25-year-old Farzana Parveen was stoned to death with bricks near the LHC on Tuesday morning by members of her family including father and brothers allegedly for marrying a man she loved.
Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has given a deadline of 24 hours to arrest accused involved in brutal killing of Farzana in Lahore.
In a high level meeting with the Punjab chief minister in the chair in Lahore on Friday, the preliminary report of the Farzana murder case was presented.
The Punjab chief minister said that the culprits will not escape the punishment at any cost. He said that the case against them will be sent to the anti-terrorism court.
