ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry on Monday excused himself from hearing the petition challenging cancelation of former military ruler Pervez Musharraf’s bail in judges’ detention case.

At the beginning of today’s proceedings, the Chief Justice directed the Registrar Office to refer the case to another bench and fix the hearing for next week.

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) had rejected Musharraf’s pre-arrest bail in a case pertaining to the detention of superior judiciary judges during 2007 emergency in the country imposed by the former military chief following suspension of Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry.
