PESHAWAR, Pakistan: Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pervez Khattak today approved maintenance plan for the year 2016-17 amounting to Rs. 915 million and provincialization of Swat Motorway with the nomenclature of MWKP-I.Â
Provincial Minister for Finance Muzaffar Syed, MNA Shehryar Khan Afridi, Advisor to CM for C&W Akbar Ayub, Secretaries Finance and Law, MD PkHA Engr. Muhammad Uzair Khan and others attended the meeting of the PkHA.
The meeting had a presentation on roads in all districts of the province and the rehabilitation process. The CM sanctioned 28 number of additional posts of Director, Deputy Director , Assistant Director, PRO and other allied staff to strengthen the structure of Pakhtunkhwa Highways Authority (PkHA).
The Chief Minister appreciated the efforts of PkHA in curbing the menace of overloading and approved additional staff and outsourcing of weigh station on provincial highways.
The Chief Minister directed diverting funds for different schemes to support provincial roads rehabilitation throughout the province. Chief Minister also directed to fund different small schemes in road communication that were left out from ADP.
Chief Minister agreed to naming of Chowk at Ghani Khan Road crossing with Takhtbhai Rajjarh Road as Hayatullah Shaheed Chowk. He also agreed to re-naming of Katlang Chowk Mardan as Sadiqullah Shaheed Chowk.
Chief Minister directed to go all out against encroachment drive. He directed to give him a schedule of roads and land encroached in different areas in order to clear them and ease out the widening of roads throughout the province.
Chief Minister also approved the concept paper of Asian Development Bank assisted project and directed to interact with Asian Development Bank for expediting the loan processing in order to complete the project within time.
Chief Minister also approved the provincialization of roads from Risalpur to Jehangira via Pir Sabak u Misri Banda with a link to Akora Khattak and Mardan Ring road via Motorway Wali Interchange.
He also approved Pakhtunkhwa Highway Authority employees regulations subject to the condition that term and condition of Managing Director may be vetted from Establishment Department.
He also approved two step upgradation to Pakhtunkhwa Highways Authority employees from BPS-1 to BPS-05 and one pay scale upgradation to employees from BPS-6 to BPS-15.
Chief Minister appreciated the excellent performance of Pakhtunkhwa Highways Authority under the dynamic leadership of new Managing Director Engr. Muhammad Uzair Khan for his dedicated efforts and approved honoraria equivalent to two basic pays for the entire staff of Pakhtunkhwa Highways Authority.
Pervez Khattak directed for quality work adding that the basic aim is to integrate the whole province through road communication network that was key to expeditious development.
