ISLAMABAD:Â The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Tuesday declared Computerized National Identity Card mandatory for casting vote in the May 11 elections.
No person would be allowed to cast vote in the polling station without having original computerized national identity card and no other document including the copy of the CNIC‚ passport and driving license would be acceptable for casting vote, the ECP spokesman said.
The spokesman said as per election laws‚ anyone having expired Computerized National Identity Cards can cast his vote.
He said the main purpose of the CNIC is the identification of the voter‚ which it would serve even after expiry.
