QUETTA, Pakistan: The Minister for Defence Khawaja Muhammad Asif visited Quetta, and addressed and interacted with participants of the National Workshop Balochistan on the topic of ‘War on terror, unrest in Balochistan, achievements, way forward and closure.”
While addressing the workshop, the minister acknowledged the contributions of security forces for achieving stability in the region, and also emphasized upon pertinent role to be played by federal and provincial government for long lasting peace.
Moreover, the defence minister, being the head of the committee, also talked about reconciliation efforts with Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
The minister also eluded similar possibility for self-exiled Baloch leaders. He expressed empathy about neglect and deprivation in Balochistan which; however, lately is being addressed both by federation and provincial authorities.
Khawaja Asif also expounded upon the fact that development and prosperity of Balochistan is critical for overall peace and prosperity of Pakistan.
“Enduring peace and prosperity in Pakistan is only possible through comprehensive whole of the nation approach. No single institution alone can achieve this”, the minister said while concluding his speech.
