ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Conference on “Kashmir: Heaven in Ashes” organized by the Center for Global & Strategic Studies (CGSS) is underway at Marriott Hotel in Islamabad on Thursday with an aim to discuss and deliberate upon the situation of Kashmir that has evolved after the abolishment of Article 370.
The Conference will discuss the policy options and strategy that must be adopted by Pakistan as the current situation compels Pakistan to strategically engage all global players.
Its objective is also to assist the policymakers to come up with an extended policy framework to rebuke India’s offensive posture.
The Conference commenced with the recitation of the Holy Quran, and Opening Remarks and Overview of Kashmir Situation by the President CGSS Major General (retd) Syed Khalid Amir Jaffery.
The President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Sardar Masood Khan will speak on “Heaven Turned into Battle Ground” followed by a Speech by the Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) General Zubair Mahmood Hayat.
The Member National Assembly and the Chairman of the Special Committee on Kashmir Syed Fakhar Imam will shed lights on “Policy Options for Pakistan to Counter Indian Aggression: Way Towards Peace”.
The former Federal Law Minister Ahmer Bilal Soofi will speak on “BJP Ideology, Muslim Subjects: the Abrogation of Article 370 and 35A” while the Defence Analyst Lieutenant General (retd) Amjad Shoaib covered the issue of “Humanitarian Crises in Kashmir”.
The Prime Minister’s Special Assistant on Information and Broadcasting Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan will also address the Session, and spell out “Shattering Kashmir by World’s Silence”.
Later, the former Federal Defense Minister Lieutenant General (retd) Naeem Khalid Lodhi will speak on “Likelihood of Employment of Chemical and Nuclear Weapons by India in Kashmir,” the former High Commissioner of Pakistan to India Abdul Basit will speak on “India’s Extremist Policies and Kashmir issue”, and the Member Advisory Board of CGSS and the Chairman Tehrik Jawanan Pakistan Abdullah Hameed Gul will shed lights on “Youth Rage and the Prospects for Peace”.
The day-long Conference will end with the Closing Remarks of the President CGSS Major General (retd) Syed Khalid Amir Jaffery.
