COVID death toll in Pakistan surges to 10,461

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The COVID death toll across Pakistan has surged to 10,461 after 52 more patients succumbed to the disease in the last 24 hours.

The latest statistics released by the National Command & Operation Centre (NCOC) on Wednesday morning revealed that 24 persons died of Coronavirus in Punjab on January 5 and 17 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK).

The Sindh province witnessed 11 fatalities, Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) 4, and Balochistan 1 in the last 24 hours.

In total, Punjab has so far recorded 4,184 COVID deaths, Sindh 3,634, KPK 1,695, ICT 432, Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) 229, Balochistan 186, and Gilgit-Baltistan 101.

The NCOC data revealed that in the last 24 hours, the Country also registered 2,118 more Coronavirus Cases and now the total tally has reached 492,594.

To date since February 26 last year, Sindh has registered 220,501 Cases, Punjab 142,058, KPK 59,955, ICT 38,531, Balochistan 18,280, AJK 8,396, and Gilgit-Baltistan 4,873.

As many as 448,393 COVID patients have been recovered now across Pakistan while 37,740 are still under treatment as of January 6, 2021.
