ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Minister for Planning, Development and Reforms Ahsan Iqbal Friday said that real target of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) initiative was to turn Pakistan into a modern industrial economy.

Addressing a conference of Chinese investors jointly organized by China’s National Development and Reforms Commission and Pakistan Mission, in Beijing, he said that Pakistan was an attractive investment place for Chinese businessmen.

The Chinese investors could bring about far-reaching results by initiating joint ventures of Pakistani businessmen.

He said that 200 million population, out of which two-third was youth, and business friendly policies, better security and economic situation were attractive for the investors.

Pakistan, he said wanted to enhance production capability in agriculture and industrial sectors by use of technology.

He informed that 10,000 MW surplus electricity would be available by year 2018, adding, modern communication infrastructure would be constructed.

Ahsan Iqbal said that Pakistan’s economy was flourishing during the last three years.

He said that there was complete political stability in Pakistan.
