ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Minister for Interior Ijaz Ahmad Shah has told the National Assembly that the number of Cyber Crime incidents in the Country are increasing day by day.

In a written reply to a question asked by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) lawmaker Nuzhat Pathan, the interior minister confirmed that the number of the complaints regarding Cyber Crimes has been increasing day by day.

Ijaz Shah told that a total of 50,505 Cyber Crime complaints were registered, out of which 11,389 complaints were converted into enquiries and 1071 Cases/FIRs were registered till September 30, 2019.

Moreover, he added, that 982 accused were arrested in the above mentioned Cases/FIRs.

75,388 persons hold valid computerized arms license

To another question by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s (PML-N) lawmaker Muhammad Afzal Khokhar, Ijaz Shah told the House that 75,388 persons hold valid computerized arms license issued by the Ministry of Interior and processed by National Database & Registration Authority (NADRA).

The interior minister told that the Provincial Home Departments in Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, Azad Jammu & Kashmir (AJ&K) and Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) have also been requested to furnish information as the subject of arms/ammunition was devolved to provinces after 18th amendment of the Constitution.
