NewsDaesh in Kerala: Authorities take no action against Daesh, claim Karelian parliamentarians

Thiruvananthapuram: “Central government of India does not take action against Daesh though terrorist outfit is frightening politicians, police officials and leaders of civil society”.

This was said by two Muslim parliamentarians from Kerala who maintained that they had failed to understand strange silence of central government authorities over spread of Daesh in Kerala state.

Indian Union Muslim League legislator K.M. Shaji said that his life is under threat and he provided detail information including telephone numbers from where he was (is) receiving threat calls.

K.M. Shaji said in his interview with Indo-Asian News Service (IANS), he had reported 10 cases of threats that were made to him for his stand against the spread of Daesh in Kerala.

“There are 10 cases that I myself have given on the threats that I have received. I have even given the telephone numbers from which the calls have come, but surprisingly no action has been forthcoming. Does this not show that they do have influence?” said K.M Shaji.

While police officials claim that Daesh has huge funds and uses “the money power” to publish and circulate a enormous amount of objectionable literature in Kerala but anti-terrorism authorities do not take action against publication and distribution of such literature and only police infuriate Daesh by arresting its members and then face threats from barbaric outfit.

Members of civil society claim that Jihadi literature is available everywhere and it looks that Daesh has indirect support of authorities to engage and recruit youth for Jihad.

Another Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) from Tirur C. Mammootty is of the view that spread of Daesh is “unchecked” in the state due to reason best known only to central authorities.

“What is probably happening is vested interests are behind this and religion is being used as a tool,” said Mammootty.

Civil society and political organisations including Indian National League, People’s Democratic Party (led by Abdul Nasser Madani), Welfare Party of India, National Secular Conference and Social Democratic Party of India have also expressed their concerens over silence New Delhi over spread od Daesh in Kerala.

In a number of statements, political and civil society organisations question New Delhi that why central government is silence over spread od Daesh in Kerala and why Daesh is being supported indirectly.

“Chief Minister of Kerala Pinarayi Vijayan who belongs to Communist Party of India (Marxist) and has support of Muslim population is trying best to snub Daesh in Kerala without support of central government. State government can only arrest suspects but it is responsibility of central government to find from where is funding of Daesh coming?”, commented Satheesh Vinay who served Intelligence Bureau over 12 years before his retirement.
