Dawood Ibrahim shifts base to Pak-Afghan border: Indian media

NEW DELHI: Dawood Ibrahim, India’s most wanted terrorist, has changed his location and shifted his base to the Pak-Afghan border, fearing that the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) Narendra Modi might launch an operation against him after he takes charge as the country’s prime minister, Indian media reported on Tuesday.

In an interview to a Gujarati TV news channel during his high voltage election campaign, Modi had hinted at hot pursuit against Dawood.

The report said that Dawood is apprehensive of Modi’s intention and fears a commando style operation, similar to the US raid in Abbottabad which killed al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden. Fearing this, the underworld don has changed his base and asked the Pakistan’s ISI to enhance his security.

Dawood Ibrahim, who heads a vast and multifaceted illegal business as well as maintains close links with terror outfit al-Qaeda, is wanted in India by the intelligence agencies and has emerged as India’s most wanted terrorist after the 1993 Mumbai bombings, which he allegedly organized and financed.
