ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said on Thursday that demands of the Taliban for peace are under consideration which will be discussed by the new government committee; however‚ no demand against constitution or law will be met.
The prime minister made these remarks while talking to a delegation of the Pakistan Ulema Council led by Allama Tahir Ashrafi in Islamabad on Thursday.
During the meeting, he said that those Taliban who are not involved in militancy will be released.
The premier said that the government is serious in talks with the Taliban with an objective to bring peace to the country. He said that the government is determined to address the challenges and measures are being taken to ensure peace and harmony in the society.
In addition, the prime minister said that extremism can only be checked by following the teachings of Islam.
