ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Dense fog continues to blanket areas of Punjab and as a result, seven persons including six children were killed when a School van and a truck collided in Layyah on Friday morning.
The collision which occurred at Fatehpur road in Layyah also caused injuries to 15 others. The School van was carrying 22 children when it met the accident due to dense fog.
The injured were shifted to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital in Fatehpur for providing medical treatment.
Meanwhile, the Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif expressed profound grief and sorrow over the incident of killing of children in the accident in Layyah.
In a statement, he conveyed his heartfelt condolences and sympathies to the families of deceased children. He directed the administration to provide the injured with best medical care.
Dense foggy conditions are prevailing over plain areas of Punjab during night and morning hours which has not only badly disrupted traffic flow but also caused various accidents.
Last Wednesday, 17 people were injured in accidents occurred due to fog in Multan and Khanewal.
