NEW DELHI, India: The Indian Supreme Court on Saturday announced its all-important verdict in Ayodhya Case, allowing Hindus to build a temple on the disputed holy of Ayodhya, a City in India’s northern Uttar Pradesh State.
The Case related to the demolition of 460-year-old Babri Mosque in Ayodhya by a large group of fanatic Hindu on December 6, 1992 in an attempt to construct Ram mandir at the site. The incident triggered violent riots which took nearly 2,000 lives.
Eventually the matter went to the Indian Supreme Court, which following a series of hearings, reserved its judgement on October 16, 2019.
In its verdict, the Court noted that the demolition of Babri Mosque was a violation of law and ordered that Muslims be given a five-acre alternative land in the town for a mosque.

In India, many Hindus believe the Ayodhya site is the birthplace of one of their most revered deities Lord Ram whereas Muslims say that they have prayed at the Babri mosque for generations until 1949 when Hindu activists placed idols of Ram at the mosque.
The contrast between the Indian SC’s verdict on Babri Mosque strengthening the Hindutva creed and Pakistan’s opening of the Kartarpur Corridor – both on the same day – could not be more stark! #PakistanOpensKartarpur

Ayodha verdict shows that extremist views which dominated politics in India, are now becoming pervasive in the state institutions of India also. As extremist, xenophobic thought takes control of Indian state & society, nuclear India emerges as biggest threat to global peace

Timing of Babri Mosque judgement raised many questions. Why Supreme Court of India announced this verdict on weekend? Is it an effort to counter the inauguration of Kartarpur Corridor for Sikhs in Pakistan same day?Is it a verdict based on law or based on BJP manifesto? https://t.co/P5ELWsMVor
