ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi on Friday announced that the federal government would appoint Dr Asad Majeed Khan and Nafees Zakaria as Pakistan’s ambassadors to the United States and United Kingdom respectively.
In a Press Conference in Islamabad, Qureshi said Nafees Zakaria was being appointed as Pakistan’s High Commissioner in London while Ali Jahangir Siddiqui was being replaced by Dr Asad Majeed Khan as the new ambassador in Washington.

The foreign minister said the appointments of news ambassadors would take some time, adding they had held a discussion over new names with Prime Minister Imran Khan.
Shah Mahmood Qureshi further said Raja Ali Ejaz was being appointed as Pakistan’s ambassador in Riyadh. He said only career diplomats were being appointed on top diplomatic posts.
Furthermore, Qureshi said a delegation consisting of Chief Executives Officers (CEOs) of large UAE Companies was on the visit of Pakistan.
Qureshi said Pakistan’s relations with United Arab Emirates (UAE) was very important, and they were trying to further strengthen them. He said they had discussed with the delegation an increase in the trade volume between the two Countries.
The foreign minister said more than 1.6 million Pakistani were working in UAE.
Earlier in the day, the UAE delegation led by the Minister of State and CEO of Abu Dhabi National Oil Company Dr. Sultan Aljaber met the Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi in Islamabad.
