KARACHI, Pakistan: A Police Officer and a Constable were shot dead in Azizabad area of Karachi on Friday morning.

Police said that unidentified assailants while riding a motorcycle opened fire on a vehicle in Hussainabad neighbourhood of Azizabad which resulted in deaths of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP-Traffic) PS Liaquatabad Hanif Khan and his driver Constable Sultan.

Police said that DSP Hanif Khan along with his driver was targeted when he was going to his Office in the vehicle.

The dead bodies of DSP Hanif Khan and Constable Sultan were shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.

Known for its food street, Hussainabad wore almost a deserted look at the time of incident, they said mentioning that bullet cases of a 9mm pistol were collected from the site.

The Investigators said that the bullets shot on the moving vehicle pierced through the victim’s head while smashing the windscreen.

Meanwhile, a senior police officer battling against growing threats of terrorism in the metropolis hinted the latest assault on cops to be a possible job of militant groups.
