ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Election Commission has strongly dismissed reports regarding the removal of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan from his post as the party head.

In a Twitter statement on Monday, the Spokesperson of the ECP said that neither a meeting has been held by the Commission on this subject nor this is under consideration.

Earlier, the media reports said that an ECP meeting was underway under the chairmanship of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sikandar Sultan Raja to make a decision to remove Imran Khan as the PTI Chief following his disqualification and conviction by a Trial Court in the Toshakhana Case.

The media reports stated that it had been decided in the ECP meeting that following his conviction, Imran Khan was no longer eligible to hold office as the PTI Chairman.

Therefore, the ECP was now to issue orders dismissing him from the post.
