The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has issued a code of conduct for the upcoming Presidential Election.
The Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Justice (retd) Muhammad Raza Khan will be performing the duties of Returning Officers (ROs) while Chief Justices of High Courts will perform the duties of Presiding Officers (POs).
While casting a vote, the member of an assembly will not be allowed to take his mobile phone along with him.
Polling stations are formed in the National Assembly as well as the four Provincial Assemblies.
The Presidential Election will be held on Tuesday (September 4, 2018) to choose a new President of the Country for next five years.
The Contesting Candidates include Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) D. Arif Alvi, Joint Opposition including Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N)-backed Maulana Fazlur Rehman and Barrister Aitzaz Ahsan of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP).
The Chief Election Commissioner has asked POs to ensure secrecy of ballot.
As per the figures, PTI has the highest number of votes with 252 if its seats in all assemblies including the National Assembly and Senate are taken into account followed by PML-N with 146 and PPP with 116.
Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA) has 38 votes, Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) has 20, Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) 29, Balochistan National Party-Mengal (BNP-M) 14, Grand Democratic Alliance (GDA) 9, Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) 4, Awami National Party (ANP), 10, Jamhoori Watan Party (JWP) 2, Independents 19, Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PKMAP) 5, National Party (NP) 5, and BNP-Awami 2.
