ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Thursday directed all political parties to remove their billboards and wall chalking by March 11, adding that if its order is not implemented, concerned DCO and DPO will be held responsible, Dispatch News Desk (DND) reported.
According to the ECP, directives have been issued to the provincial election commissioner and chief secretary for the removal of billboards and wall chalking.
“If political parties fail to remove wall chalking and billboards then the relevant District Coordination Officer (DCO) and District Police Officer (DPO) will be held responsible,” said additional secretary election commission Afzal Khan. He said that even the SP will be answerable if the order is not fully imposed.
Meanwhile, a meeting to discuss the deployment of the army during the elections will be held on Friday.
Secretary Election Commission Ishtiaque Ahmed will represent the ECP in this meeting which will take place at the GHQ in Rawalpindi. According to sources, the ECP is seeking more army deployment during the elections as compared to past polls.
