ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) said on Wednesday that it will not discuss issue of nomination papers with the federal government, adding that only the Supreme Court’s orders regarding the nomination papers will be implemented, Dispatch News Desk (DND) reported.
Justice (retd) Riaz Kayani, a member of the ECP, told media persons in Islamabad that now there is no room for talk with the federal government over the issue of nomination papers, adding now there is no room for changes in the new nomination forms.
Kayani said that only the Supreme Court’s orders regarding the nomination papers will be implemented and said that any discussion with the representatives of the federal government can only be held in the presence of Chief Election Commissioner.
The ECP member further said that the ECP stood by its decision to send the amended nomination papers for printing without the approval of President Asif Ali Zardari.
