ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Monday rejected the plea of Aleem Khan Leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), seeking nullification of by-elections in NA-122 Lahore, over allegations of illegal vote transfer.

A four member bench of the ECP headed by Chief Election Commissioner announced the decision and observed that the Affidavits filed by the Aleem Khan were absolutely false and the commission reserves its authority right to proceed against him.

The ECP, however, allowed Aleem Khan to get access to the voters’ record in NA-122 Lahore as per the rules of the electoral body.

The ECP in its order said “both parties are entitled to have copies of record whereby the voters were freshly included in the Electoral Roll of 2015”.

They can also get the copies of record from District Registration Officer (DRO) of numerous persons registered on a specific address after specifying the Census Blocks and the specific persons, it added.

They may obtain the copies of record of inclusion, exclusion and deletions of voters in the electoral rolls of 2015 compared with electoral rolls of 2013 after specifying such persons as well as incidents, ECP maintained.

The ECP’s order further stated that both parties can also obtain the copies of supplementary list published in July 2105 which includes the record justifying the addition/deletion/inclusion of alleged 4542 votes.

They can also get copies of voters list after the announcement of schedule for bye election in NA-122, it added.

It is pertinent to mention here that Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Ayaz Sadiq stood victorious against Aleem Khan in by-elections of NA-122.
