ISLAMABAD: Twenty-one incumbent and two former members of provincial assembly of the Punjab were served notices on Tuesday by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) for allegedly holding dual nationalities, ECP sources said. MPAs have been summoned on February 7.
Asif Aizdi, former ambassador, had submitted reference to ECP against the MPAs. He pleaded that despite submission of oath in the ECP the lawmakers were still holding dual nationalities.
The notices have been issued to former MPAs Jameel Ashraf and Tahir Ali Javed and current MPAs Zaeem Qadri, Shaukat Aziz Bhatti, Rana Babar Hussain, Farrukh Javed, Raza Ali Gilani, Pir Kashif Chishti, Imran Shaukat, Muhammad Yar Hiraj, Tahir Khalil Sindhu, Makhdoom Muhammad Irtiqa, Arfa Khalid Pervez, Maira Malik, Ghulam Sarwar, Imran Khalid, Shahjahan Ahmed Wattoo, Ali Haider Noor, Hafiz Mian Noman, Mohsin Lateef, Mian Tariq Mehmood and Shamsheer Haider Wattoo.
