ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: With the successful experience of two latest systems for results gathering the Election Commission has expressed resolve to continue using latest techniques for compiling such information.
The Election Commission has described recent use of two latest technologies; GIS Polling Station on Google Map and Mobile Based Result Transmission System as successful.
“Election commission of Pakistan is pleased to announce the successful conduct of two pilot projects carried out during Islamabad Capital Territory Local Government Elections 2015,” said a statement issued by the Commission.
The project of GIS Polling Station on Google Maps was devised to help the general public to find their polling station on Google Satellite Map that navigate the user to see the polling station physically on Map.
“It was recorded that about ten times hits occurred as compared to the normal routine hits in just ten days,” said the Commission.
Secondly, the second Pilot Test was carried out by using Mobile Based Transmission System, through which the Presiding Officers of 200 Polling Stations successfully transmitted the form-XI to ECP’s Central Server directly before sending the hard copies to Returning Officers.
“We also meticulously checked the indigenously built software, hardware, connectivity, quality of the content, security and user’s friendly environment,” it added.
The ECP has achieved the desired results and committed to perform multiple pilot projects by scaling up its magnitude to gauge further results.
The Commission hoped that these technologies will certainly not only give transparency but also increase the overall efficacy of the systems.
