CAIRO, Egypt: The former Egyptian president Muhammad Morsi has been sentenced to death by an Egyptian court in a case of related to Jail breaking in 2011.
In its verdict announced in Cairo on Saturday, the court also awarded death sentence to more than a 100 people nominated in the case.
The Egyptian first democratically-elected president is accused of organizing prison breaks with the help of foreign militants during the 2011 uprising against former dictator Hosni Mubarak.
Morsi was toppled in a military coup led by Abdel Fattah el-Sisi on July 3, 2013. Sisi is currently the President of Egypt since June 2014.
