ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Eid Ul Fitr will be celebrated in Pakistan on May 24 (Sunday), the Federal Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry said.

In a Press Conference in Islamabad on Saturday, Fawad Chaudhry said that the Moon will be visible in Sanghar, Badin, Thatta, Jiwani, and Pasni from 7:36 pm to 8:14 pm.

The ministers said that the progress in science has made the process of sighting the moon very easy.

However, he regretted that Eid and Ramazan moon sighting has always witnessed a controversy in Pakistan.

Fawad Chaudhry said that religious festivals should be the basis for unity not controversy.

The information technology minister said that it was a commitment of the present government to end this controversy.

For this purpose, he added, that a Committee was formed which prepared an Islamic Calendar. He said the Ruet app was also developed which gives the location of the moon.

Meanwhile, the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will meet today in Karachi to decide about the sighting of Moon of Shawwal-ul-Mukarram 1441 Hijri or otherwise.

The Chairman of the Committee Mufti Muneeb-ur-Rahman will chair the meeting.

The meetings of Zonal and District Ruet-e-Hilal Committees in their respective areas will also be held for collecting evidences in respect of sighting or otherwise of the Moon.
