PESHAWAR, Pakistan: The security forces killed at least eight militant in a clash in the Datta Khel area of the North Waziristan tribal region on Friday.
The official sources said that the militants fired rockets on a security check post in Datta Khel. In response, the security forces personnel retaliated effectively and killed at least eight militants.
A military operation Zarb-e-Azb continues against outlawed militant groups in North Waziristan agency since June last year. The military officials said that over 1,000 militants including foreigners and key commanders have been killed during the operation.
Separately, the militants fired four rockets from an unknown location on a mosque in Kalaya area of Lower Orakzai agency on Friday that left one soldier killed and four others injured.
The attack took place when the Friday prayer was being offered in the mosque, according to political administration official.
Security forces convoy attacked near Gwadar, three killed
In another incident, a convoy of security forces was attacked by the militants in Sansar area near Balochistan’s port city of Gwadar, resultantly three security personnel lost their lives while four others injured.
The sources said that security forces were on routine patrolling in the area when the militants opened indiscriminate fire on them.
The militants escaped from the scene after the attack. Meanwhile, a search operation was launched to find the attackers.
