ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Thursday issued the notification regarding final Code of Conduct for candidates contesting the upcoming general elections, Dispatch News Desk (DND) reported.
The ECP notification states that elections for National and Provincial Assemblies will be held on the same day. It says the process for filing of nomination papers for election of National and Provincial Assemblies begun from 25th March and will end on 30th March, scrutiny would begin the next day.
There will be seven days for the process of scrutiny‚ which would continue till 6th April. It states that last date for withdrawal of candidature will be 18th and revised list of candidates will be published on the 19th April.
According to the notification each contesting candidate is ordered to open an account with a scheduled bank before the 4th of next month and deposit the amount not exceeding to 1.5 million rupees for National Assembly constituency and one million for Provincial Assembly constituency to meet the election expenses.
“No political party or a contesting candidate or an election agent or their supporters shall use any vehicle to convey to or from the polling station any voter except himself and members of his immediate family,” says the notification.
It says two-member team‚ with a video camera‚ shall monitor the election process including campaign expenditure and observance of Code of Conduct by contesting candidates and political parties.
The Commission has strictly ordered that all concerned are required to follow the directives in letter and spirit and any violation in this regard would be dealt with in accordance with the relevant provisions of the constitution and law.
It is notified that none of the contesting candidates will exceed the limit of election expenses during the election campaign and all election expenditures will be made out of the amount deposited in the same account.
