LUXEMBOURG: The European Union on Monday asked Russia not to stop East European nations from seeking closer relations with the bloc by using trade agreements, adding that any more pressure from Moscow would be counterproductive.
The warning was made at a meeting of the EU’s 28 Foreign Ministers in Luxembourg on Monday.
The EU countries hope to sign closer cooperation deals with Ukraine‚ Moldova and Georgia at a summit next month but Moscow is urging those nations instead to align themselves closer to Russia.
