ISLAMABAD: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) leader Maulana Fazlur Rehman on Friday urged the inclusion of the tribal jirga in proposed peace talks with the Taliban, adding that his party won’t become part of peace negotiations without the tribal jirga.
In a statement, the JUI-F chief said the tribal jirga is being backed by the whole nation as well as Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan.
“Khan is also keen to hold peace talks with the involvement of tribal jirga,” he said. “We will back talks if jirga is given a role.”
“We will neither become part of talks nor we will oppose them without jirga,” he added.
