ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The sub-committee of National Assembly Standing Committee on Cabinet Secretariat was apprised on Tuesday that some 10 montessori schools for the children of 3 to 5 years age group in Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) were being opened shortly initially.
The committee which met here with Nafeesa Inayatullah Khan Khattak in the chair reviewed plans for establishment of new colleges and schools, introduction of new syllabus, induction of ethical topics in new syllabus, policy regarding syllabus of minorities and criteria for award of scholarships to students.
Director General Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) Moin-undin Wani informed the NA panel that Montessori System required specialized teachers and process for recruitment of such teachers has already been started.
He said over 300 sanctioned posts of teachers and lectures were lying vacant in FDE’s schools and colleges and advertisement for vacant posts would be published in next few weeks.
Summary has also been sent to the Finance Division for creation of new posts in the FDE run schools and colleges, he said. However, he said that all post of grade 16 and above would be filled through Federal Public Service Commission. Merit would not be compromised in the recruitment process, he added.
Wani said that under the new criteria, now master degree would be mandatory for the candidates who want to join FDE schools and colleges. Specific timeframe would be given to the existing teachers for improving their education, he said.
Joint Secretary CADD Aysha Farooq said that post approval of Prime Minister Curriculum Wing has been established in CADD and work for assessment of missing lines would be starting shortly.
The committee was informed that two projects of new schools and colleges were funded and in progress during fiscal year 2015-16.
The meeting was also attended by MNAs Marriyum Aurangzeeb and Farhana Qamar.
