MIRPUR, AJK: The government of Pakistan has approved Rs 105.01 million as compensatory relief for the martyrs, injured, disabled persons and other affectees of Indian firing along the Line of Control (LoC) and this amount has been transferred to Azad Jammu and Kashmir government, it was officially declared.
According to details, Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif accorded formal approval of the Rs 105.01 million as compensation including Rs 39 million meant for 39 martyrs, 25.6 million for 129 seriously injured/disabled persons, Rs 36.5 million for 73 partially and Rs 4 million will be given for four completely damaged houses by Indian shelling, AJK government spokesperson / DG ISPR Raja Azhar Iqbal told the state-run news agency APP on Thursday late night.
This compensation would be disbursed earlier, he added.
The AJK Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider welcomed and thanked the generous financial assistance of Rs 105.5 million for victims of Indian firing on Line of Control from Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
He said Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has great love and affection for people of Kashmir, he felt the pain of the miseries of Indian firing.
He said prime minister of Pakistan highlighted the cause of Kashmiris on every relevant forum.
“It is a historic step taken by the Pakistan Muslim League (N) government. It gives a message to the affectees the central government cares for them will go in a long way,” AJK prime minister said.
He said the people of Kashmir were determined and there was no fear of Indian aggression.
The AJK prime minister paid tribute to the martyrs and wounded people at LoC and expressed solidarity with victims.
He said in this difficult time Pakistan government and people stood with them.
