ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The federal government has banned filling of Public Service Vehicle (PSVs) including three wheelers, buses, coaches and wagons with Liquified Petroleum Gas (LPG) and directed the all LPG sellers to comply with the LPG rules.
In its awareness campaign for general public about safe usage of LPG, the enforcement department of the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) said on Wednesday that LPG refueling from illegal decanters is not allowed.
In its directions for all the LPG licence holders, it said that LPG is a popular form of energy but it is highly inflammable and can pose serious safety hazards, if not handled properly.
Therefore, for safety reasons, the federal government has amended certain clauses of LPG production and distribution rules.
According to the amended rules, for safety reasons, installation of LPG cylinder or tank on motorcycles, scooters and public service vehicle i.e. three wheelers, buses, coaches and wagons will not be allowed and treated as illegal.
No LPG cylinder will be installed beneath the seats and within the passengers compartment of vehicle.
The licensee has been directed to ensure that vehicles having LPG cylinders installed beneath seats and within the passenger compartment of vehicle shall not be refueled or entertained.
