ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Federal Minister for Commerce and Textile Muhammad Pervaiz Malik has said that the government is formulating Trade Policy and paying special attention to skill development which includes all aspects of proper training, quality, education and physical well-being of the trainees.
Replying to a question in Senate on Tuesday, he said that after 18th amendment, the subject was devolved to the provinces and concerned provincial governments were taking appropriate steps for skill development.
The minister said that during the training period each trainee is provided with financial support in form of scholarships and – stipends.
“Pakistan is signatory to all international treaties and conventions for the welfare of the workforce and there is treaty implementation cell to ensure proper implementation, of those treaties and conventions,” he added.
Pervaiz Malik said that the Ministry of Commerce has taken special steps towards skill development through funding of the Export Development Fund.
The minister said that the following training Institutes have been established – Textile Institute of Pakistan Karachi; Pakistan Institution of Fashion Design; Footwear Training Institute, Charsadda; Leather Product Development Institute, Sialkot; Institute of Knitwear Training Institute, Karachi; Ready-made Garments Technical Training, Institute, Karachi; and Pakistan Bed wear Designing Training Institute, Karachi; Gems & Gemological Institute, Peshawar.
