ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Federal government has released an amount of Rs 45481.12 million to execute development schemes in Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) during last three years.

The budget is distributed amongst seven Agencies and six Frontier Regions (FRs) of FATA on criteria approved for the purpose.

Giving year-wise statistics of the budget, sources at Ministry of States and Frontier Regions on Thursday said of the total, Rs 11823.75 million funds were released in 2012-13, Rs 16577.37 million in 2013-14 and during 2014-15 the government released Rs 17080 million for FATA development.

The sources said during last three years, the government allocated an amount of Rs 48003 million.

They said funds for FATA development and establishment expenses are provided by Federal government, however, these funds are released as a one liner in Federal Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) directly to FATA Secretariat and Ministry of SAFRON has no role in the allocation, distribution, execution or monitoring of projects in FATA.

The development of FATA totally depends on availability of funds which is being provided by Federal government in shape of FATA Annual Development Programme (ADP).

Moreover, the sources said as per standing policy, the new schemes are identified and selected in FATA ADP with due consultations of all stakeholders.

During last year 2014-15, a total 941 schemes (595 ongoing and 346 new) were reflected in FATA ADP, out of which 215 schemes were reported as completed and remaining were carried over in FATA ADP 2015-16 under ongoing programme.
