ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The National Assembly was informed on Tuesday that the Ministry of Housing and Works had allotted six plots for the construction of mosques in the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT).

While speaking on the floor of the National Assembly, the Federal Minister for Housing and Works Akram Khan Durrani said the ministry had first time formulated a policy for allotment of plots to mosques under which the ministry after allotment of plots would also establish mosques.

Akram Khan Durrani said after completing the construction process, an advertisement would be published in newspapers for the appointment of Ulema on merit for performing duties in those mosques.

The Ulema of all school of thoughts would be able to apply for those mosques, he said adding that a committee would select Imams for those mosques.

The minister further said fake news were being circulated in the electronic, print and social media about the corruption in the housing ministry without proper information and investigation. The minister said the case regarding allotments of said plots was also in the court.

Durrani also said a campaign was being run in the media to malign the politicians which should be stopped.
