ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The federal government has started efforts to evolve consensus among federating units for celebrating Eid-ul-Fitr across the country on same day.
Minister for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony Sardar Muhammad Yousaf has started efforts by contacting religious scholars of various school of thoughts for this purpose.
According to official sources, the ministry is planning to convene the meeting of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee in Peshawar instead of Lahore for sighting the moon of Shawal.
The Minister has already made successful attempts for starting Ramazan-ul-Mubarak across the country same day (June 7).
The Minister also met several Ulema and Religious Scholars including Mufti Shahabuddin Popalzai of Qasim Khan Mosque Peshawar for ensuring same day start of Ramzan-ul-Mubarak.
The minister has started same efforts by contacting religious scholars and Ulema to evolve consensus for celebrating same day Eid-ul-Fitr across the country.
