ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has said that the federal government is very much alive to the needs for Federally Administrated Tribal Areas (FATA) reforms.

In a meeting with the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Iqbal Zafar Jhagra at the PM House in Islamabad on Friday in which issues related to development of the tribal region were discussed, the prime minister said that FATA’s future will be decided as per the wishes and popular will of the people and no decision will be imposed on the tribesmen.

While appreciating the spirit of patriotism of tribal people, the prime minister said that tribal people had left their homes and native places for the great national cause and their sacrifices would never go in vain.

The prime minister said that it is my vision that the people of FATA enjoy the same standard of living as enjoyed by the citizens of the rest of Pakistan.

Separately, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s (PML-N) MNAs Sardar Muhammad Irfan Dogar, Alam Daad Lalika and Mian Najeeb Uddin Awaisi also held meetings with the prime minister in Islamabad on Friday.

During their separate meetings with the prime minister, the lawmakers discussed political issues and apprised the prime minister about development works being carried out in their respective constituencies
