RAWALPINDI, Pakistan: The Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Major General Babar Iftikhar has said that fencing has been completed along the 1,700-kilometer Pak-Afghan border while the remaining area will be covered in a very short time.
In a media briefing in Rawalpindi on Thursday, the director general ISPR said that under the border management policy, concrete steps are being taken along the Pak-Afghan and Pak-Iran borders to control the terrorism and smuggling of illegal goods.
Terming the peace in Afghanistan as tantamount to peace in Pakistan, he said we are the largest stakeholder of peace in Afghanistan. He said that Pakistan is playing its conciliatory role in the Afghan peace process with sincerity.
Major General Babar Iftikhar expressed hope that peace will be restored in Afghanistan soon through the reconciliation process.
The director general ISPR said that once peace is restored in Afghanistan, the repatriation process will start in a dignified manner.
Wishing the nation a very happy 74th Independence Day, he paid tribute to the struggles of our national heroes Quaid-e-Azam and Allama Iqbal for achieving an independent state for us.
Major general Babar Iftikhar also paid tribute to the struggle of Kashmiri people who are fighting for their right to self-determination since last 73 years. He said that innocent Kashmiris are being killed on the name of fake counter-terrorism.
The DG ISPR said that New Delhi’s illegal acts in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJ&K) are aimed at changing the demography of the occupied territory and against all international norms.
The director general ISPR said that Pakistan has fully highlighted the severity of Kashmir issue at every forum and now it is being discussed all over the world.
Babar Iftikhar said that the resolution of the Kashmir issue is the key for regional peace and even the UN general assembly secretary general has also stressed for it.
Furthermore, he said that it is very unfortunate that violations of the Line of Control (LoC) by India continue in which unarmed and innocent civilians are being targeted.
The director general said that a recent UN report has pointed out the existence of a terrorist outfit in India through which it plans its terrorist activities in neighboring Countries.
Major General Babar Iftikhar also said that Pakistan army is fully configured, prepared, and determined to defend honour and territorial integrity of the motherland. He said that we are fully aware of hegemonic and expansionist designs of the enemy that is posing threat to regional peace.
