Pakistan’s automobile sector is unveiling surprises one after the other. Just a few years back, there were very few vehicle options available for consumers. However, since the end of 2019, the picture of the auto industry in the country took a whole other shape. With more and more automakers stepping into the local market, consumers have started trusting the new brands owing to the cheaper prices. As per the recently revealed new Auto Policy 2021-26, the government has encouraged the manufacture and use of electric vehicles in Pakistan. In an effort to contribute significantly to the EV pool, a group of overseas Pakistanis is working on gifting the people the first electric car of Pakistan. Let’s have a look at the details!

Dice Foundation

Overseas Pakistanis have shown a great gesture by stepping into the automobile industries of the US, the UK, and Canada. A group of automobile workers has joined forces under the name of the Dice Foundation to contribute to the EV sector of Pakistan.

According to the founder and chairman of Dice Foundation, Dr. Khurshid Qureshi, the group is building an EV for Pakistan to compete with the leading electric cars of the world. The cost of the project could go up to $100 million. However, with the services of overseas Pakistanis, the cost has been cut down to significant levels.

Battery Pack Details

As reported, the battery pack for the first electric car of Pakistan is designed for the weather as well as road conditions of the country. The electric car will have the capacity to serve the local Pakistanis for a minimum of 10 years.

Partnership With Pakistani Institutes

Dice Foundation has partnered with the following list of Pakistani engineering institutes to build the car.

  1. DHA Suffa University
  2. NED University of Engineering & Technology Karachi
  3. National College of Arts (NCA)
  4. Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (TEVTA)
